Queen's Road Cemetery

Welcome to Queen’s Road Cemetery in Walthamstow, East London—a fascinating and somewhat eerie historic site often referred to as London’s “sinking cemetery”. Opened in 1872, this Victorian burial ground has suffered from heavy soil subsidence and decades of nature taking over.
Today, many of its crumbling headstones, Victorian tombs, and forgotten graves have partially sunk into the ground or tilted dramatically, creating a hauntingly beautiful and atmospheric landscape. In this video, we wander through the overgrown paths to explore its hidden history and look for notable graves, including that of early cinema pioneer Birt Acres.
